Both sides, one order

Old one in. New one out. One record.

Swap deals

A swap is a sale and a purchase at the same time, and on paper it’s easy to record only one of them. A swap deal in Tabs puts both on one order: what went out, what came in, the trade-in credit you agreed and what the customer still owes.

The new phone leaves your stock and the old one enters it. The credit is never counted as cash. If the deal falls through, you reverse all of it, not half.

Also in the folder

  • Trade-in slips
  • Up to 8 photos
  • Serial or IMEI
  • Drafts
  • Review and confirm
  • Reverse a swap
  • Credit marked not money
  • A role for who confirms

01 · Both sides

The whole deal on one ticket.

Going out is what you’re selling. Coming in is what the customer hands over. The ticket keeps the sum in front of you while you talk: sale total, trade-in credit, balance due.

  • Sell from the same catalogue as the till
  • Take more than one item in on a deal
  • The credit can’t be more than the sale

02 · The slip

Write down what you were handed.

Each item coming in gets a slip: what it is, its condition, its serial or IMEI, what it’s worth and the credit you agreed. Photograph it before you agree a price, and next week’s argument about a crack has a picture.

  • Up to 8 photos on every slip
  • Your estimate and the credit agreed, kept apart
  • Choose the product it joins in your stock

03 · Drafts

Save it while they go to the ATM.

A draft moves no stock and records no payment, so it can wait for the customer. Confirming is one step: the new item out, the old one in, the credit recorded. You can’t end up with half a swap.

  • Drafts sit on the Orders page until you carry on
  • One person enters the deal, another confirms it
  • If a price changed since the draft, you see it first

04 · The money

Credit that never passes for cash.

Tabs records the trade-in credit as a payment marked “not money”. Your cash, transfer and POS figures stay what they are, so your takings never look bigger than what came in.

  • Its own line on the customer’s receipt
  • Its own row on the dashboard
  • The balance is taken like any other payment

05 · Reversing

Undo all of it, or none of it.

A reversal puts both sides back: what went out returns to stock, what came in leaves it, and the credit is cancelled. If money was paid or the item was handed over, Tabs tells you what to do first.

  • A reason on every reversal
  • Only the owner can reverse, until you say otherwise
  • One side can never be undone without the other
